Art

The Junior Art Department covers drawing, printing, modelling, constructing and the understanding of Art.

In Year 4, pupils have fun making clay dinosaurs; building giant totem poles; flying Chinese kites; exploring the undersea world and painting crazy cows. They draw and paint people in costume and make medieval knights with metallic paper. It is a year in which enjoyment is coupled with a high degree of achievement.

By Year 5, pupils are ready to spend more time on the fine arts, sketching and painting landscapes and seascapes. Observational drawing and the discovery of perspective within a picture is a new experience for the ten year old.

In Year 6, they paint British buds in water colour; they enter the world of insects; construct 3D buildings and they use acrylics in a garden mural and make tissue paper flowers.
