RE

The aim of the Religious Education syllabus is to help pupils gain an understanding of the influence of beliefs and traditions on individuals and communities.

Furthermore we will aim to develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgments about religious and ethical issues and to promote a positive attitude towards other people and a readiness to learn from diversity.

In Key Stage 1, the pupils find out about the Christian faith through Old Testament and New Testament stories and through learning about the key Christian festivals. They also learn about festivals and stories from other faiths.

In Key Stage 2, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism are studied in more depth, with pupils learning about the history of each faith as well as modern practices. Key Stage 2 pupils also gain a deeper understanding and knowledge of the major Christian festivals.
