Careers

Our aim is to stimulate interest and to facilitate decision-making by pupils at an appropriate age and at each major stage of their development.

We hope that the career choices they make as they leave Plymouth College are the best they possibly can be at that stage of their lives and that they are prepared to deal with future changes and decisions.

Years 7 – 9: For Year 7, an afternoon of business awareness is part of the PSHME programme. Year 8 ‘play’ the nationally recognised Real Game, where they attempt to match dream life-styles with income and are introduced to many other aspects of working life, such as holidays, working hours and transferable skills in an age-appropriate and fun way.

Year 9 pupils are introduced to careers software, which matches their academic profiles and personal interests to potential careers. They are also encouraged to start using the Careers Library, as well as undertaking the first stages of personal presentation and considering their GCSE option choices.
