Similar to San Francisco, Plymouth Sound is a natural stadium that will bring the racing to the spectators and really showcase the AC45s in a spectacular way.

Sailing

With one of the best natural harbours in Europe in close proximity, Plymouth College is ideally situated for learning how to sail and to race small sailing dinghies.

Sailing takes place in the waters of Plymouth Sound from our base at Royal Western Yacht Club on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.

Plymouth College Sailing Team training and regattas against other schools take place on Wednesday afternoons from the same venue. During the winter, land training, theory and team race tactics’ lessons take place at school on Wednesday afternoons and Tuesdays after school.

It is hoped that students who wish to commit to sailing and improve towards RYA advanced sailboat racing certificates will choose sailing as their games option on Wednesday afternoons from September 2014.
