Model United Nations

Model United Nations is a realistic simulation of the real UN, with each student or group of students playing the part of a country's delegate. A topic for debate is chosen, and then each delegate researches the position of their country on that topic and prepares a position paper and an opening speech to read out at the debate. This is followed by a full debate within the UN framework and rules, which includes lobbying and strategy. This is followed by writing and voting on resolutions.

Model UN gives students experience of real debate and its protocols, as well as increased knowledge and experience of international relations and global issues. It is perfect for those wanting to pursue courses and careers in Politics, Law, History, PPE or any related disciplines.

The aim for Plymouth College MUN is to prepare for and attend a national or international student conference.
