Plymouth College Sixth Formers, Oscar Marsland, Ganesh Sivasothy and Isaac Rayworth (pictured), are through to the national final of the ifs Financial Capability Video competition.

The business students, calling themselves ‘Minimum Balance’, made and starred in a video about credit cards.  Based on a topic from their financial capability course, the video featured a character in debt and another who spent wisely.  The boys used the power of video to explain the benefits of credit cards and why they are useful.

Eight teams from across the UK have made it through to the national final, which is being held on 12 February.

“We are delighted to have made the national final,” said team member, Oscar Marsland.  “It has been a great challenge, which has seen us put in weeks of hard work.

“This practical project has really helped to reinforce what we have been learning in class.”

In the last decade, Plymouth College business teams have competed in around 40 national finals, winning 15 including Young Enterprise, Student Investor and Make Your Mark.  The school also runs a highly-successful Entrepreneurial Society that has welcomed top speakers including Wetherspoon founder, Tim Martin; Reggae Reggae Sauce creator, Levi Roots; Two Four Productions CEO, Melanie Leach and Fat Face founder, Tim Slade.
