Sun comes out for Prep Open Morning - 16/3/10
Published: 16 March, 2010
Science and art displays, cookery and sport demonstrations,
music and drama performances… these were just some of the
activities that took place at the Plymouth College Preparatory
School Open Morning.
On what proved to be a beautiful sunny day, the school welcomed
more than 40 visitors, who were able to go on a tour of the school,
join in with some of the activities and meet the teachers and
pupils.
Year 2 pupils were busy making flapjacks, music scholars played
their hearts out in the school chapel, budding artists worked on
their clay animals and sports pupils showed off their football and
gymnastic skills.
A major refurbishment in 2005 means that the Millfields-based
school now boasts specialist rooms for science, ICT, art, music and
design technology. It has spacious classrooms, a theatre,
purpose-built sports hall, large sports field, outdoor play areas
and a chapel.
Combining a healthy balance of high-quality academic study and a
broad range of fun activities, the co-ed school for children aged 2
½ to 11 years also offers a bus service and free aftercare -
nursery vouchers for three and four year olds can be used for
children attending the school's Kindergarten department.
Headmaster, Chris Gatherer, said: "We were delighted with the
number of visitors that attended Open Morning. We hope that
it gave everyone who came a glimpse of what life is really like at
the Prep School and a chance to see first-hand why our pupils have
a lot to smile about."
