Year two get a bird’s-eye-view from Smeaton’s Tower - 13/5/10

Plymouth College Preparatory School pupil, Jack Lenszner,
reports on his class visit to Smeaton's Tower on Plymouth Hoe…
On Wednesday 21st April we went to the Hoe. We were
going because we were learning about Grace Darling. When we got
there we were put in groups. I was with Lucy when we arrived.
When we fitted in the door we turned left and found ourselves
walking up a spiral staircase. When we finished the stairs, we
found ourselves in the storeroom. There were ladder-like steps.
They led up to the oil room. More ladder-like steps led up to the
kitchen, then the bedroom and the lantern room. We went outside and
we were 22 metres high. We saw Mount Edgcumbe and my house. We went
down all the steps, except the spirals, backwards.
After that we went to the Sensory Garden. After that we went to
the memorials where we saw some strange names. I loved the
trip.
