Olly makes national business competition final

Plymouth College sixth former, Olly Foster, has made it through
to the national final of Schools' Brightest Business Brain. The
competition has been organised by TARGETevents in partnership with
Royal Bank of Scotland.
To qualify for the final, Olly had to complete a series of
online problem-solving business tests. Gaining the
6th highest score in the country, he will be one of 60
to take part in a live apprentice-style event in London on
9th March. The finalists will be competing for a
top prize of £1,000.
This will be Plymouth College's twentieth national business
competition final, with the school going on to win eleven times in
the last ten years.
"Our students are really empowered by these competitions", said
Economics and Business Studies teacher, Jonathan Shields.
"They give them the ability to contextualise what they have learnt
in the classroom and they thrive on the competitive dynamic of
competing at a national level."
In other business news, Plymouth College's VA Team has made the
regional final of Student Investor. Having 'invested' in a
fantasy portfolio of banking stocks, Ed Hirst, Joe Patching, Ryan
Hart and Michael Daniel will compete against 20 other teams from
around the region in Bristol on 15th March.
Plymouth College has won the regional round of Student Investor
eight times and has won the national competition twice.
