The 1st XII started the season well, with a bruising encounter against St Peter’s, Lympstone. Despite limited practice, the Plymouth College Prep team came away with an excellent 14 – 7 win. Tremendous defensive tackling by the whole team earned this result.

Dominic Lyons, Ben Piggot, James Burke and Michael Haley are celebrating after becoming Plymouth U19 Badminton Champions.

This year’s Preparatory School swimming gala for Years 4 to 6 saw no less than six school records broken. Held at the 25-metre pool at the Senior School, Downton House was the over-all winner on 146 points. Pusey House scored 127, Wantage House 120 and Sellon House scored 97 points.

Plymouth College PE teacher, Emma Tremaine, thought she would practice what she preaches by taking part in her first Modern Pentathlon competition - Emma teaches girls’ games and is the equestrian coach for the school’s Modern Pentathlon programme.

Plymouth College Modern Pentathlon scholar, Sarah Palmer, 17, has won the Youth A Girls British Youth Pentathlon Championships.

Cassie Patten, 21, a former swimming scholar at Plymouth College, has won a bronze medal in the 10K Open Water event in Beijing. An open water specialist, Cassie also made it to the 800m freestyle final in the pool last Saturday.

Plymouth College swimming scholar, Emma Wilkins, 17, found herself shaking hands with Gordon Brown after she was invited to attend a reception for the UK School Games at the House of Commons.
