Plymouth College first XV progressed to the fifth round of the
Daily Mail Cup with a well-executed victory over Truro school,
gaining revenge on them after they had beaten Plymouth earlier in
the season.
The first half was dominated by Plymouth and after Truro missed
an early penalty, Henry Slade stepped up and kept his cool to slot
a penalty of his own, making the score 3-0. Soon after, George
Stephenson scored a brilliant try from the lineout, with Henry
unable to make the kick. Truro pulled a penalty back to make it 8-3
before Slade again kicked a penalty to restore the 8-point lead
going into half time, 11-3.
The second half saw little incident, other than the two kickers
exchange a penalty each. Plymouth defended soundly and deservedly
held on to their 14-6 lead until the final whistle. Plymouth now go
on to the quarter finals.
