Plymouth swimmers win national league for third year running - 28/4/10

The Plymouth College/Plymouth Leander partnership has much to
celebrate after the swimming club became champions of England and
Wales for the third year running. Leander, which has been
working in partnership with Plymouth College for nine years, took
the National Arena Swimming League Cup title at Ponds Forge in
Sheffield.
The Plymouth club was nearly 90 points ahead of second placed
Stockport Metro with Millfield in third. Of the six Top Age Group
Athletes Awards, Plymouth swimmers took five and claimed eight meet
records.
Most of the swimmers who competed are part of the combined
education and swimming programme, which allows young athletes to
flourish both in the pool and in the classroom without one
compromising the other.
Plymouth Leander Head Coach and Plymouth College Director of
Swimming, Jon Rudd, said: "This is always a great team event, one
that we love to support and it is worth a great deal of kudos to
the winning team. Along with our terrific successes at the
recent British Championships, we look to use this victory to spur
our athletes on into the national and international events waiting
for us this coming summer."
