Plymouth College has returned triumphant from the English
Schools' Swimming Team Championships in Stockport with six of the
12 national titles. The school swimming team already holds
six of the 12 national records.
With Millfield School only winning three events (one of which
was shared with Harrow School), Plymouth College's title haul means
it is the top swimming school in the country for the fourth year
running.
Plymouth College came out on top in the Intermediate Girls'
Freestyle Relay, Intermediate Girls' Medley Relay, Intermediate
Boys' Medley Relay, Senior Girls' Freestyle Relay, Senior Girls'
Medley Relay and Senior Boys' Freestyle Relay. A change-over
infringement in the Senior Boys' Medley Relay cost the team a
seventh title and the Intermediate Boys came 3rd in the
Freestyle Relay.
"I am delighted that Plymouth College continues to be the top
school in the country for swimming", said Clive Hambly, teacher in
charge of swimming at Plymouth College. "There were many fine
individual performances from our swimmers and a number of personal
bests were broken."
