Swimmers win gold medals for England

Two swimmers from Plymouth College have won gold medals for
English Schools at the 40th WISE International held in
Dublin.
Competing against the top swimmers from Wales, Ireland and
Scotland, Joe Patching and Oliver Leonard picked up seven gold
medals for England between them.
Sixth former, Joe, won the 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke,
setting new senior competition records for both. He was also
part of the senior relay teams that took the champions' titles in
the 4x100m medley and 4x100 freestyle events. Joe took bronze
in the 400m freestyle.
In the intermediate competition, Year 11 pupil, Oliver, secured
gold for England and set a new competition record in the 100m
butterfly. He also swam in the gold medal-winning teams for
the 4x100 medley and 4x100 freestyle relays. Oliver took
silver in the 100m freestyle.
Both boys are part of the Plymouth College elite swimming
programme.
