Talented Plymouth College athlete, Harriet Mitchell, 12 from
Liskeard, has helped the South West Tetrathlon team to win a silver
medal at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The prestigious show is the largest outdoor equestrian event in
the UK, with over 3000 horses and ponies taking part in more than
250 jumping, showing, and carriage driving classes. The event
has been running for over 65 years and takes place in Her Majesty
The Queen's private grounds at Windsor Castle.
Harriet, who is a member of East Cornwall Hunt Pony Club,
secured her place on the regional team after winning the 15/16
South West area Pony Club Tetrathlon winter league series. A
shoot, run, swim and ride event, Harriet did the show jumping part
at Windsor on her pony, Master Juno.
No stranger to multi-eventing success, Harriet was the 2010
runner up in her age group at the British Pentathlon Championships
and is the current South East Pentathlon Champion.
"It was amazing just to be there and compete", said
Harriet. "To win a silver medal was a huge bonus and I'm
absolutely delighted."
