Great wins for Prep 1st team against Stover and Wellington
Published: 02 December, 2011
The Prep School 1st team recently played two very tough rugby
matches against Stover School and Wellington School. The boys
played superbly in both games and came out victorious both
times.
In the Stover match, as usual, the forwards played superbly
allowing for good ball to the backline who took any opportunity
they got to score. Ben Charlton was the stand out player for the
forwards, carrying the ball up with purpose and making good ground
up the field. George Spencer and James Degg linked very well,
George being the stand out player in the backs supported very well
by Bertie Ratsey.
Everyone played well and stepped up to the plate when they
needed to. It was a great victory all round for the boys. The final
score was 28 - 0.
The game againstWellingtonwas a tough one. Playing in the wind
and rain it was hard for the boys to focus and do what they do
best. They were very quiet and needed a bit of a talking to
in order to get them going! Ben Charlton yet again led from the
front and had an awesome game. He got the boys motivated and
back to playing their best.
During the first half Plymouth used their size and physicality
to get the better of Wellington. In the second half Wellington
passed the ball a lot more and avoided contact. Bertie Ratsey was
the stand out player this game. He made several try-saving
tackles and set a high standard for the rest of the team,
congratulations to him. Our defence was tested and the boys showed
good fight to hold off the continuousWellingtonattack.
It was a superb match and the boys did very well to hold out for
a great win. The final score was 21 - 19.
