Plymouth College beat West Buckland at Albion
Published: 02 December, 2011
Plymouth College senior teams enjoyed a successful day at
Plymouth Albion RFC where the First and Second XVs took on their
West Buckland counterparts.
The First XV put in an inspired display against dangerous
opponents who were enjoying a good run of success, including a
win over local rivals, Kelly College, the week before.
Playing with energy, conviction and ambition, Plymouth exploited
the large pitch to maximum advantage and ran in a total of
nine tries. Charles Attis (captain) also chipped in with a perfect
set of nine conversions and a total personal haul of 23 points. The
platform was laid up front where a dominant scrum and well
functioning line out ensured that the side enjoyed good primary
possession, a commodity too often lacking this season. This allowed
front foot attacks to be common place and the outside backs made
the most of the quality possession. West Buckland had large
sections of the game, but determination, good organisation and
communication ensured that the home line was never
breached. Final score 63-0.
In a physical encounter the Second XV came out deserved winners
21-0, a match that was far closer than the score
suggested.
Plymouth College play their final fixture this
Saturday (3rd December) against Taunton School which looks
likely to be an exciting encounter with both sides enjoying similar
records this season.
