Music

The Music Department comprises full time music teachers and a number of peripatetic instrumental teachers. Individual tuition is available for most instruments. Currently piano, electric keyboard, recorder, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, trumpet and drums are taught. Pupils are entered for the Association Board for the Royal School of Music examinations as well as those of the Trinity and Guildhall Colleges of Music.

There is a Junior School Choir (Years 3 - 6), which performs for the Harvest Festival and Christmas Carol Services, in concerts and at the Speech Day services as well as on other occasions throughout the year.  Watch the whole school sing 'I Vow to Thee My Country' and 'Jerusalem' below.

There is a String Group, a Wind Group and a keyboard club, all of which are available to all standards of musician.

Class music is taught throughout the school. Here, a broad approach is taken, seeking to widen pupils' experience of music of many styles and periods, from many different parts of the world. Through listening and appraising, children gain awareness of the world of sound, and through composing and performing, they gain confidence and expertise in expressing themselves through music.
