Sophie Ryland (Year 8) has been chosen to represent Devon in the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) 14 and under County Cup event at Heron Tennis Centre in Newquay, Cornwall this weekend.
Sophie has been selected as part of the six-strong female team to face Avon and Cornwall. She is ranked within the top 20 for her age in Great Britain. Her selection follows recent success at the South and South West Tour 18 and under tournament at Boscowan Park, Truro, where she reached the final of the grade four event.
Taking place at venues throughout the UK, the LTA County Cup event gives players the opportunity to represent their county in a competitive team environment with age groups ranging from U9 through to open categories. This year’s format has been revised so the event can take place safely amid Covid restrictions.
