TEACHER OF CHEMISTRY

Plymouth College is a leading co-educational school, which has operated at the forefront of independent education since its inception in 1877.  With its excellent programmes for the academic and personal development of pupils, fantastic wellbeing and pastoral care and world- leading performance sports and co-curricular activities, the College produces well-rounded, confident and resilient young people who stand out from the crowd.

Applications are warmly invited for the part-time, permanent post of Teacher of Chemistry, commencing in September 2026. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for the sciences and will enjoy engaging young people in their specialism.

The post comprises 0.4 FTE of Chemistry teaching. The ability to teach Chemistry to at least GCSE is essential, with the ability to teach other Sciences to GCSE desirable. The ability to teach GCSE Mathematics (up to 0.3 FTE) would also be an advantage.

The Sciences are incredibly popular subjects at Plymouth College, dedicated to more than just outstanding academic results; our goal is to ignite a passion for lifelong learning and cultivate an speculative mindset and an analytical skill that extends beyond the boundaries of the curriculum.  We are committed to nurturing our students, whether they begin their journey with us at GCSE or A Level, preparing them for success in the ever-evolving world of STEAM.

Plymouth College offers a wide range of extra curricular activities, and all staff are expected to contribute fully to this vibrant programme through games, clubs and societies.  Prospective candidates should be willing to play an active role in the wider life of a busy boarding and day school.

Applications are warmly invited for the part-time, permanent post of Teacher of PE and Games (0.4 FTE), commencing in September 2026. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, energetic and committed practitioner with the ability to coach across a range of sports and contribute fully to the College’s extensive Games and co-curricular programme. An ability to teach academic PE would be an advantage.

Plymouth College has an exceptional sporting reputation. The College has a strong background in traditional team sports and is recognised nationally for its elite swimming programme, which has produced national, international and Olympic success. Our sporting facilities include rugby pitches, cricket squares, a full size astro turf hockey pitch, a sports hall, a five lane 25m swimming pool, a cardiovascular suite, cricket nets and a purpose built strength and conditioning gym.
