Alizée Bollen writes about the 1st X1 fixture against King’s Taunton…

The match against King’s Taunton marked our most important fixture this season. It would mark a turning point, and given we played our first and second team, be our toughest one yet. Though we were optimistic, the odds seemed to be against us as they rolled up with over four substitutes whilst we had none.

However with a fantastic goal from Tommy Eyston within the first 15 minutes, sending a shockwave through the opposition’s defence, we continued our attacking press throughout the first half to secure a 1-0 score at half time.

An empowering team talk at half time strengthened the team further so that with a short corner timed to perfection, we were leading 2-0 with only 10 minutes left on the clock. A brilliant goal by our captain Bizzie Dinnis! The last 5 minutes of the game were nothing short of jaw-clenching, as Taunton attacked with full power. Our defence, though, proved stronger, some simply amazing saves from Laura Cosby!

It has been a great season ladies, and this victory was deserved after all our hard work. Our progress has been unbelievable, and I can't wait to bring the same energy to next week's game. Once again well done, 2-0 victory!
