Drama Senior School

Congratulations to the following pupils who have been involved in many excellent things this term:

Sienna and Lydia film for CBBC

This term has seen great success, with two pupils filming on a new secret Television Drama for CBBC. Lydia Lambie and Sienna Vigus Huggins enjoyed filming in Beautiful locations in Devon and Cornwall over a number of weeks. They are both looking forward to the launch of the Drama on Television next year. Both pupils learn the art of Television Acting to camera as well as Theatre with Miss Vigus and agreed the experience was incredible.

City of Plymouth Festival and LAMDA exams

Senior School pupils had great success once again winning cups and trophies in the Senior categories at the City of Plymouth festival of Speech and Drama. This took place at the Future Inn. Ethan Roberts won an overall special award selected by the adjudicator and the Solo Acting Monologue Cup. Lydia Lambie scooped medals in Verse Speaking, Acting and in Musical Theatre with great remarks from the adjudicator who loved her performances. Georgia Trathen also gained a bronze in Musical Theatre with her brilliant portrayal of Wednesday from The Addams Family Musical. This was in the same busy week that saw LAMDA pupils take their exams. Publicity officer for the festival, Miss Vigus, said: “The festival, now in its 105th year, is once again growing in numbers of entries which is great news. Well done everyone!"

Pupils perform in Beauty and the Beast

Two pupils from Plymouth College are working hard through the Christmas Season. Sienna Vigus Huggins and Jessica Bartlett were selected to perform as part of the Junior Ensemble in the professional production of Beauty and the Beast at Exeter’s Northcott Theatre. The girls are in alternating teams and are thoroughly enjoying every second of their time performing. Both pupils train hard throughout the year in all genres of dance. Last week Plymouth college pupils in Year 7 and 8 enjoyed watching the show and supporting Sienna and Jessica.

A big thank you to Miss Vigus for her continued fantastic teaching and all the opportunities available to Plymouth College pupils!
