📣Following last week’s Upper Sixth results, our pupils at Plymouth College are celebrating the awarded GCSE results today. The College is extremely proud of this Year 11 cohort and wish to celebrate their achievements.

🎉With the return to formal exams this year after the pandemic, there were a number of excellent achievements by our pupils. There are outstanding results for many pupils including Theo Sullivan, Berk Paker, Matthew Chu and Scarlett Fraser all of whom achieved top grades across a broad range of subjects. Notable performances and congratulations also to Charlotte Bryce and Euan Honey for their impressive performances. Our pupils have also delivered outstanding results alongside their successes away from academia, with notable achievements including Finn Broekhoven combining representing the Netherlands at the European Youth Olympics with achieving excellent GCSE results. Surya Suresh has also successfully achieved top grades at GCSE whilst maintaining his high level of cricket at county level. Lydia Lambie’s laudable academic performance has been achieved, alongside her dedication to drama (both in and outside of school) and involvement in numerous local theatre productions.

The Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), which provides pupils with the opportunity of independent research into their chosen topic, and to hone their study and presentation skills, was undertaken by Charlotte Bryce, on the history and influence of French cuisine; Euan Honey, on the most promising sites and likely construction methods for the first Mars colony; and Kaia Phillips, on the causes, symptoms and prevalence of Body Dysmorphic Disorder. These pupils showed outstanding levels of commitment to manage themselves independently.

Success looks different for everyone and at Plymouth College we encourage and support all pupils to exceed their potential, whatever that may be. As a cohort these young people have achieved so much in difficult times ,with their individual achievements being simply too many for us to name. We are absolutely delighted for them all.

Jo Hayward, Head, said: “There has been plenty of media coverage of the difficulty encountered by pupils over recent years. Our pupils have shown superb resilience and determination to achieve their best and should be very proud of themselves, as we are. I look forward to watching their progress throughout their sixth form and have no doubt they will continue to commit to their studies as well as relish all the enrichment activities on offer to them here at Plymouth College”.
