Alumni & OPM

You never leave Plymouth College – you complete your school education here but remain part of this community throughout your life. Old Plymothians and Mannamedians (OPMs) always remain valued members of our school community, sharing a rich and continuing heritage.

Events

Plymouth College deeply values its alumni community and is committed to supporting the OPM (Old Plymothians and Mannamedians) network in fostering lifelong connections. Each year, the OPMs organise a host of events ranging from reunions and dinners to sporting fixtures and social gatherings. These provide wonderful opportunities for former pupils to reconnect with old friends, network and revisit familiar surroundings.

The OPM community is dedicated to keeping alumni informed about these varied events and shares relevant school news. A primary aim for the OPMs is to help former pupils reconnect with one another, nurturing the enduring bonds forged during their time at school. Through these efforts, the supportive spirit of Plymouth College continues to thrive within its cherished alumni network, offering a lasting sense of belonging to all.

Who are the OPM'S

OPM stands for Old Plymothians and Mannamedians, encompassing all former pupils of Plymouth College.

Our OPMs have gone on to achieve distinction and make significant contributions across an incredibly diverse array of fields. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments, which serve as a true inspiration to our current pupils.

Notable examples from the sporting world include Henry Slade (England Rugby), Michael Cooper (football), Dr Kerenza Bryson (Olympic penthalete), Ben Proud (Olympic swimmer), Laura Stephens (Olympic swimmer), Ben Andrews (GB fencing) and many more. Other former pupils include politician Michael Foot, Professor Hugh Montgomery (Medicine), Professor Paul Seymour (Mathematician). And from the arts Michael Ball (West End star) and Annabel Kennedy (Mezzo Soprano).

These are just some of those pupils who have gone on to make a difference in the world.

OPM Sport

The OPM’s offer a vibrant and inclusive community, welcoming not just former pupils but anyone keen to enjoy sport with one of Plymouth’s oldest clubs. This open ethos is central to our sporting life, fostering camaraderie and a love for the game across various disciplines.

OPM Hockey Club particularly embodies this spirit, fielding three senior men’s teams in the West of England and South Wales Hockey League, alongside an established ladies’ team. Players of all ages, from 15 to over 50, and varying skill levels are welcomed, with many non-alumni becoming valued associate members enjoying unique benefits.

For cricket enthusiasts, OPM Cricket provides a social, non-league team open to all OPMs. Interested players are encouraged to get in touch with the club.

The OPM Rugby Club, founded in 1926 with a dedicated captain and initial playing members, continues its long tradition of community rugby.

Staying Connected

Throughout the year, we organise a range of enjoyable events, from reunions and dinners to sporting fixtures and informal social gatherings. These occasions are all designed to foster enduring relationships within our alumni community and provide wonderful opportunities to share memories and make new ones.

A cornerstone of our alumni communication is The OPM Magazine. This publication is produced yearly and serves as a key resource for keeping our former pupils up-to-date. Inside, you’ll find exciting news from friends and contemporaries, updates from the school itself, and information about the OPM Club activities, ensuring everyone remains a cherished part of our extended community.
