Shaping Futures at Plymouth College
Plymouth College Prep is a place where young children can dive into a diverse range of learning adventures, a place that sparks ambition, nurtures success and enthusiastically celebrates every step forward. Here, a purposefully warm and supportive learning culture creates an environment where pupils can thrive.
Within the welcoming environment of a tight-knit school, pupils grow, enriched by the exceptional resources, expertise and opportunities that come with being part of the broader Plymouth College community. We believe children shine brightest when they feel secure, appreciated and happy. By weaving together a compassionate approach to learning, clear guidelines and genuine care, we empower each pupil to grow in confidence and reach their unique potential at Plymouth College Prep.

Pre-School
At Plymouth College’s Pre-School, we provide an exceptional environment for children from the age of two (if their third birthday is within their first term). Our dedicated and experienced team fosters a caring and supportive atmosphere, helping your child build confidence as they embark on their educational journey.
Our ethos is firmly anchored in learning through play, enriched by vibrant experiences that captivate young minds and cultivate a lifelong passion for learning. We focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, delivered through a stimulating programme that makes their first steps in learning both joyful and meaningful, preparing them for future success.

Prep Curriculum
Our Prep Curriculum is built upon small class sizes, allowing dedicated teachers to understand each pupil and provide individual attention. This fosters support and skill extension, empowering every child to achieve their personal best. In Early Years, a play-led approach across seven learning areas, including specialist Music and PE, ignites curiosity.
As pupils progress, experiential learning through trips, performance opportunities and specialist teaching in subjects like French, Computing and Art expands their horizons. By Years 5 & 6, a comprehensive curriculum with subject-specialist teachers and continued pastoral care thoroughly prepares them for their next educational steps, ensuring confident, capable learners.

Co-Curricular
At Plymouth College, we offer an exceptional range of termly enrichment activities during lunchtimes, after school and through residential trips. All pupils are encouraged to participate, discovering new skills and developing existing talents. Our vibrant Music programme fosters music-making from an early age. Drama cultivates confident speakers through regular productions and performance opportunities.
Academic enrichment clubs nurture a passion for learning, while Sport, a cornerstone of our offering, promotes teamwork and physical activity with excellent facilities. Creative talents flourish in Art and Design clubs and our Outdoor Education programme uses our unique location for adventure and building life skills.

Pastoral & Wellbeing Support
We foster genuine self-confidence by providing an empowering and enriching environment where children feel happy and secure. Our small class sizes and specialist staff ensure each child is supported to unlock their full potential.
From their first day, pupils become part of a close-knit community, fostering a strong sense of belonging. Pupil wellbeing is paramount, with a comprehensive PSHE curriculum nurturing emotional and social development.
Tailored pastoral care, through dedicated class teachers and form tutors, ensures personalised support. We also actively encourage leadership skills from an early age through various opportunities, including our vibrant House system and prefect roles.

Learn To Swim
Discover our Learn To Swim programme, open to both Plymouth College students and the wider community. We follow the esteemed Swim England National Curriculum, delivered by qualified teachers in small, focused classes.
Our newly refurbished 25-metre pool provides a private environment for children to build confidence and develop essential swimming skills at their own pace. Emphasising a fun and supportive atmosphere, we focus on progressive learning, ensuring every participant becomes a competent and safe swimmer.
