Academic History

With civil wars breaking out within the Conservative Party, Labour Party and the European Union, Plymouth College historians looked back at the English Civil War of the seventeenth century to establish effective tactics. With Stuart costumes tried and tested, Year 8s turned to the barber surgeon for advice on how to remedy the injuries. His toolkit included mostly heavy metal implements and his focus was on chopping off, or opening up, offending parts of the body. Not many recovered from their injuries.

After lunch, students settled in for some Pike Drill and sword etiquette before learning that muskets don't fire if the powder is damp - hence, keep your powder dry! It was a thoroughly fun and educational day of History. Year 8 historians are a fine Stuart army in the making.
