
Plymouth College Modern Pentathlon scholar, Sarah Palmer, 17, has won the Youth A Girls British Youth Pentathlon Championships.
First in the run by one minute, Sarah was consistent in all five disciplines – shooting, fencing, swimming, riding and running. From Tavistock, she scored a total of 4640 points and achieved a PB in fencing.
The championships were held in Solihull with a very competitive field. Also taking part from Plymouth College were Susannah Kellagher who came 6th overall in the Youth A Girls and 2nd in the ride, Georgina Barrington 6th in the Youth B Girls and 1st in the fence and ride, and Poppy Le Marechal (first Pentathlon competition) 14th in the Youth B Girls and 2nd in the run.
“I am really happy to win such a prestigious event”, said Sarah. “I’ve been training really hard and I’m delighted it’s paid off.”
All the girls fence with Plymouth Fencing Club where they are team-mates of Modern Pentathlon Olympic silver medalist, Heather Fell.
“This was a fantastic achievement by Sarah”, said Plymouth College Director of Modern Pentathlon and Plymouth Fencing Club Head Coach, Andy Hill. “All the girls competed really well and I was extremely proud of how they performed.”
