Year 4 had a great introduction to their studies on the Tudors with a visit to Cotehele, a National Trust property on the banks of the River Tamar in South East Cornwall.
Dressing up in Tudor costumes, the pupils had a tour of the house and learned about the Edgcumbe family who had lived there. In particular, they were told the story of Richard Edgcumbe, who was part of the rebellion against Richard III and fought at the Battle of Bosworth alongside Henry VII – he was able to extend the house with money gifted to him by the grateful King.
The visit was followed up with a project on Cotehele when the children returned to school.
