Plymouth College pupil, Tom Daley, has triumphed in the World Championships in Rome, clinching the gold medal with his final dive – his score to win the 10m platform event included four perfect 10s.
Aged just 15, Tom beat pre-event favourite Qiu Bo into second place, with Olympic gold medallist Matt Mitcham in fourth.
The World Championships is not over just yet for Tom. He competes in the synchronized event with partner Max Brick at the weekend.
Deputy Head, Sarah Dunn, said: “Winning a gold medal in the World Championships is a truly outstanding achievement. Tom is a remarkable young man and we are all incredibly proud of him.”
