Plymouth College fly half, Henry Slade, 16, has been selected for the U17 England rugby team. His place on the national squad comes close on the heels of playing in both the Devon and South West U18 teams.
The selection trial was an inter-regional tournament at Cokethorpe School in Oxfordshire, which saw the South West team come out on top. Henry's first match in England colours is 7th March, when the U17 team play the U16 team.
"I'm really excited and honoured to be chosen to play for England", said Henry. "I've gone from playing for my county to playing for my country in a really short space of time so it all seems a bit surreal at the moment. I can't wait for our first match."
Plymouth College head of rugby, Richard Edwards, said: "I am absolutely delighted for Henry. Making the England team is a fantastic achievement and I'm sure he will make his school and family very proud."
