With it bitterly cold and the weather threatening yet again, the Plymouth College 1st XI entertained a spirited Devonport High School 1st XI at Ford Park.

After Plymouth College's normal openers Henry Bennett and Luffman went cheaply with their stumps up rooted by Marsh, the Plymouth batting order was changed to give others a chance and the players didn't disappoint.

First Ben Jackson then Will Dickinson batted well with Jackson scoring 34 and Dickinson 28. Ollie Mulberry then blasted a couple of sixes in his quick fire 17 before George Stephenson and Alex Hill, coming in down the order, put on a magnificent 134 in the last 10 overs with shots all over the park. A number of sixes hit the Meade King Hall and the staff in the OPM Suite had their meeting disturbed as the ball bounced off the side of the building! Given the condition of the pitch, 262-5 off 35 overs was an excellent batting exhibition and the running between the wickets was of a very high standard.

In reply, DHS's Marsh, who was well supported by Alex Carr, played superbly hitting a terrific 74 before being brilliantly caught by Will Dickinson having just been caught by Chris Head who fell over the boundary rope in the process. Henry Bennett then caught Carr off a fierce extra cover drive off the Iceman and the match turned. Bennett and Will Dickinson then both took regular wickets. Bennett finished with figures of 4-34 and Dickinson 3-3 as DHS were all out for 154 in the 26th over.

Plymouth College won by 108 runs.
