The wind and rain did not stop the Plymouth College Preparatory School U9 boys' cross country team from taking the top spot in the St Petroc's Cross Country competition. Competing against nearly 30 schools from across Devon and Cornwall, the U11 boys' and girls' teams came 2nd in their categories.
The challenging event took place on the cliffs above the beaches at Bude in North Cornwall. The U9s tackled a hilly 1500m course while the U11s competed over 2500m.
Outstanding individual performances included Alex Ratsey, Alasdair Lambie, Joe Taylor and Oscar Boyhan Irvine who finished 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th in the U9 boys' race. Ollie Piper came 4th in the U11 boys.
"I am very proud of all our young runners", said Head of PE, Chris Cottrell. "Despite the awful weather they all ran really well. There were more than 100 runners in each race so to get so many top ten places is a great achievement."
