The first match of the season started with a good number of pupils watching the entertaining first half an hour. Plymouth College's captain, Alex Hill, won the toss and decided to bat. The first delivery received by Henry Bennett was deposited into the astro netting, the second ball was a single and on the third ball Will Chapman was yorked!

George Stephenson and Bennett then put on, in good time, 124 for the second wicket before Stephenson was out LBW for 57. Alex Hill, who was not finding batting difficult, then got run out going for a second run. Bennett was by now approaching his maiden 1st XI hundred when he unfortunately decided to play back rather than forward and was bowled for 96; his innings included twelve 4s and five 6s! Pasi Mawalage and Callum Cload then put on 96 before Cload was out bowled for 61. Matt Kidd and Pasi Mawalage then upped the run rate and Mawalage ended up 50 NO and Kidd hit a cameo 30 off 10 balls. Plymouth College ended on 317-5, a great score in 40 overs.

Bryanston lost their first wicket when Kidd removed Weld's leg peg and Pasi Mawalage then bowled Jones. At 16-2 Bryanston's job was looking very difficult. Rebecca Bertram and Jennings started the recovery before Bertram became the first of Bryanston 3 run outs due to excellent Plymouth College fielding.

Mid overs Plymouth College took their foot off the pedal a little and the game drifted before Pavi Mawalage turned the match back in Plymouth College's favour when he did not panic and ran in and ran out Warden-Owen who with Jo Buckle was proving stubborn. This changed the game's impetus and even though Joe Buckle, Bryanston's Captain, hit a brave 41, wickets kept falling and Bryanston ended 148 all out in the 32nd over.

Plymouth College 317-5. H Bennett 96. G Stephenson 57. C Cload 61. Pasi Mawalage 50 NO. Bryanston 148 All Out. Plymouth College won by 169 runs.
