Plymouth College's rugby teams achieved victories across the board over Kelly College last Saturday. The First XV won 34-0, their sixth straight win against their Tavistock rivals. Six tries were scored in all, two for Ellery Jones and one each for Jamie Johnson, Tom Turner, Declan Reed and Ollie Clenaghan. Two conversions were added by Charles Attis.

The Seconds secured a hard fought 12-0 victory with the Under 15s also edging their opponents with a 24-19 triumph. The U15s started brightly, but Kelly opened the scoring. Plymouth got a real confidence booster when Paul Habib scored the first of his tries. With Pete Sumner and Paul Hamber prominent, Plymouth competed well against a physically bigger Kelly side and the backs tackled everything that moved. Defensive lapses however saw Kelly retake the lead but Plymouth fought back. Well into the second half Peter Lui-Brown scored the try that eventually made the difference and Gerrard converted from in front of the posts.

The junior sides were more comfortable achieving a 31-10 victory at U14 and 55-0 at U13.  Led by the determined Tom Brooker, the U13 team got off to a strong start with the ball flowing through the backs ending with a try by Man of the Match Thom Leman, converted by Harry Mason. This theme continued as passes were timed to perfection, tackles were broken and rucking was tough and effective. Toby Farley and Jason Blake turned the ball over time and again as John Alao and Harry Mason ran in the tries. In a free-scoring extravaganza, the U12s prevailed 50-38.

All the matches were enjoyed by good support and the unseasonal sunshine allowed for exciting and free flowing rugby to be the order of the day.
