
The Plymouth College swimming team has clinched seven out of twelve English Schools Swimming Association titles making it the top school in the country for the fifth year running. Held in Southampton, the school also broke three records bringing its national total to seven.
Plymouth College came out on top in the Junior Boys' Freestyle Relay, Intermediate Girls' Freestyle Relay (new record), Intermediate Girls' Medley Relay, Senior Girls' Freestyle Relay (new record), Senior Girls' Medley Relay (new record), Senior Boys' Freestyle Relay and Senior Boys' Medley Relay. The Intermediate Boys were not far off the top spot, taking second place in both the Freestyle and Medley Relays. The remaining titles were picked up by Millfield School (three titles) and Guilford High School (two titles).
"I am delighted that Plymouth College continues to be the top school in the country for swimming", said Clive Hambly, teacher in charge of swimming at Plymouth College. "There were many fine individual performances from our swimmers and a number of personal bests were broken."
The team's success comes on the back of being Commended in the Telegraph/Aviva School Sport Matters Awards and the winners of School Sport Magazine's Girls' Team of the Year.
