Plymouth College 1st XV captain, Charlie Attis, 18, has moved a step closer to his England dream after being selected to the U18 South West rugby squad. A veteran of U15, U16 and U18 Devon teams, the U16 South West team and Devonport Services' senior team, Charlie took part in a tough day-long trial, which saw about 40 top players from across the South West put through their paces.
Involving a variety of skills training and a match, Charlie was one of 25 to be invited to go forwards to a South West training camp in Bristol in three weeks time. This will be followed by a tournament against other English regions at half term where England selectors will start to assess players for the U18 national squad.
"Charlie's game is going from strength to strength", said Plymouth College Head of Rugby, Richard Edwards. "He is a hard-working and dedicated team player and I have high hopes that he will follow in the footsteps of former Plymouth College pupil and England U20 star, Henry Slade".
