Plymouth College fencer, Tia Simms Lymn, 12, has just returned from Paris where she competed for the U15 England fencing team in an international foil competition.

Competing against 20 nations, Tia was one of the youngest competitors to take part.  This was the first international call-up for the reigning British U12 foil and epeé champion.  She will defend her national titles later this year.

In other fencing news, Tim Andrews, 14, has been selected to fence for the British U17 team in Pisa in a couple of weeks at an international epeé tournament.  He has also qualified for the British Fencing Championships after coming 3rd in the U16 boys' section of the South West event.

Other Plymouth College national qualifiers include Annie Crocker (1st U12 girls), Taylor Ashby (2nd U12 girls), Chloe Hamilton (1st U14 girls), Kerenza Bryson (2nd U14 girls), Luis Frese (2nd U18 boys), Katie Davies-Gregory (2nd U18 girls) and Kelcey Pillage (3rd U18 girls).  Catherine Bishop and Alice Simmonds have received byes into the Sheffield event after finishing in the top 8 nationally last year.

"The Paris event was great experience for Tia", said Andy Hill.  "She has had an incredibly successful 12 months and really holds her own against competitors that are much older than her.  I am also delighted with Tim's international call-up.

"It all looks very promising for the nationals and I am really pleased that so many Plymouth College fencers qualified."
