High flying fencer, Tia Simms Lymn, 12, continues to go from strength to strength after successfully competing in three events in five days.

First up was the Public Schools Fencing Championships at Crystal Palace.  Tia beat 70 other girls to win the Mount-Haus U14 foil competition.  She remained undefeated in the pools and had an easy ride to the final where she fought back from 10-14 down to win 15-14.

The following day Tia travelled to Poland to represent the England U13 team at a 14-nation event in Warsaw.  Competing against 177 of Europe's top fencers, Tia claimed a bronze medal after losing out to the eventual winner from the Ukraine.

A couple of days later Tia was back in London fencing in the final of the Elite National Epée and picked up her second gold medal in five days.

"I wouldn't normally advise competing in so many top competitions back-to-back but that's the way the fixtures fell and Tia didn't want to miss any of them", said Plymouth College Director of Modern Pentathlon and Fencing, Andy Hill.  "As well as a considerable amount of stamina, Tia also displayed incredible mental toughness and I am extremely proud of her achievements."

Other fencers Charity Brifaut and Kerenza Bryson both won bronze medals in the Public Schools Fencing Championships, while Josh Hellings won a silver medal at the Elite National Epée final.
