Plymouth College maths teacher, Andy Norris, 38, has won the Worcester Marathon. Andy completed the gruelling 26.2 mile race in an impressive 2 hours 55 minutes, 3 ½ minutes ahead of the runner in second place. An undulating course, he beat nearly 200 other competitors to take the top spot.
A keen runner, Andy has spent the last 10 years chasing his first marathon win and has previously clocked up a number of 2nd, 3rd and 4th places, including 2nd place in both the Duchy and the Cornish Marathons.
Andy said: "I realised I was in the lead when the half marathon runners peeled off towards the finish and I asked a spectator how many were ahead on the marathon route and she said none! When I saw my family at 18 miles I had two minutes on second place but managed to increase my lead by another 1 ½ minutes by the end."
Andy is hoping to claim his first local win in the Cornish Marathon later this year.
