Former Plymouth College pupil and tenor, David Webb, hits the classical singles chart today with his group Amore's first release.  'Brindisi' from 'La Traviata' is available to download from iTunes at http://bit.ly/JYRvg7  The group's album 'Amore - Stand Together' is available from 28 May.

David won a Music Scholarship to study at Plymouth College although by his own admission his focus on Music became slightly blurred as he enjoyed playing in a number of school sports teams, drama groups and various other extra-curricular activities.

On leaving Plymouth College in 2002, he won a Choral Scholarship to Truro Cathedral and stayed there for three years working on his voice (and of course his surfing!).   He auditioned at the Royal College of Music and was offered a scholarship on the spot, later becoming the Irene Hanson Scholar at the Royal College of Music International Opera School.

In 2009 he sang in the chorus at the Glyndebourne Festival for its 75th anniversary year, where he also created the role of Machado in the world premiere of Julian Philips' The Yellow Sofa.  2010 saw David make his French operatic debut at the Opéra Comique, Paris, and the Theatre Caen, as well as his American debut at The B.A.M, New York, singing the role of 'Autumn' in Purcell's The Fairy Queen. In the same summer, David marked his Spanish debut at the Teatro Real as Secondo Soldato and Consoli in L'Incoronazione di Poppea.

On the concert platform, performances have included Haydn's Creation at St-Martin-in-the-Fields, Handel's Judas Maccabaeus at New College Chapel, Oxford, Evangelist and arias in Bach's St John Passion, the Monteverdi Vespers at Truro Cathedral, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Haydn's Nelson Mass at St John's, Smith Square.  Other concert engagements include Mozart's Requiem at St Martin in the Fields, Evangelist St Matthew Passion with the Orchestra of St Pauls, Handel's Messiah at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings in Paris.

David returned to Plymouth College in December to present the prizes and perform at Senior Awards Evening.
