Plymouth College Preparatory School pupil, Taylor Ashby, 11, has won the IAPS U11 Girls' Epeé Championships. This is the second year running that a pupil from the school has taken the national title.
Taylor beat the top fencers in her age group from prep schools around the country. She won all five fights in the pools and made it through direct eliminations undefeated to take the title in the final.
"We are very proud of Taylor", said Plymouth College Preparatory School Headmaster, Chris Gatherer. "She has only been fencing for a year so this is an outstanding result. The IAPS Fencing Championships is a really prestigious competition and it is great to see someone from our school on the podium again."
Other pupils competing were Olivia Tanner who came 8th in the girls' competition and Samuel Malcolm who came 10th in the boys' event. All three are members of Plymouth Fencing Club, which holds its training sessions in the Prep School sports hall.
