Plymouth College Combined Cadet Force (CCF) cadets did themselves proud on one of the biggest days in the city's calendar. Armed Forces Day on Plymouth Hoe attracted tens of thousands of people who came together to show their support of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Special guests at the national event were His Royal Highness, Prince Edward and Prime Minister, David Cameron.
One of the main attractions of the day was a host of military-related stands, which included Plymouth College CCF. Cadets were able to talk to visitors throughout the day about the benefits of being part of the CCF. On display was some of the equipment used in training as well as photographs showing the range of activities cadets take part in such as camps, canoeing and other adventurous pursuits.
The day also involved a packed programme of entertainment including military parades, sail past, music and an air show culminating in a spectacular display by the Red Arrows.
Earlier in the week cadets took part in a flag-raising ceremony and formed a guard of honour for the arrival of Prince Edward. Two cadets were presented to the Prince at a Civic Reception.
Plymouth College CCF Contingent Commander, Lt Col Pete Lewis said: "This was a really high profile national event and it is fantastic that our cadets were able to be involved. They conducted themselves impeccably and really flew the flag for both Plymouth College and the CCF."
