
A student from Czechoslovakia, Zaneta Karnikova, 17, has joined the Plymouth College Chemistry Department for a month's work experience.
Zaneta is studying chemistry at the High School of Chemistry Pardubice, where she has one more year of study before going to university. During her time at Plymouth College she is helping lab technician, Ruth Gilbert, prepare for lessons. After university Zaneta hopes to do research or analysis work for a pharmaceutical company.
Staying with a host family, Zaneta has made the most of her time in Plymouth visiting Dartmoor, Cremyl and the National Marine Aquarium.
Students have been coming to Plymouth College from the Czech high school for work experience for the last four years. It is funded by the European Leonardo da Vinci programme.
