Former Royal Marine and leadership consultant, Jon White, was the special guest at Plymouth College's Senior Awards Evening, held at Plymouth Guildhall.  The independent school's annual prize-giving event recognises and celebrates the academic and extra-curricular achievements of senior pupils.

Jon, a triple amputee who lost both his legs and his right arm in Afghanistan, presented the prizes and gave an inspirational talk to the gathered audience of current sixth form, 2013 leavers, staff, families and friends about making the most of opportunities and never giving up. The evening also included a song from the recent school production 'The Greatest Show on Earth' by sixth formers Will Hambly and Annabel Kennedy, as well as an entertaining 'Sand Dance' sketch by former pupils Seb Slade and Luke Dickinson - the boys first performed the 'dance' when they were in Year 8!

"Many congratulations to all our prize-winners", said Headmaster, Dr Simon Wormleighton.  "The Senior Awards Evening allows us to celebrate our achievers from last year, including academic scholars, sportsmen and women and musicians to name but a few.  We were delighted that Jon was able to join us to present the prizes, and give such a moving and engaging speech."
