
Talented Plymouth College tennis player, Pierce Widdecombe, 13, has moved another 46 places up the U14 UK rankings after success in two more tournaments. In the last 3 months he has climbed to number 39.
Pierce's impressive rise is down to winning the Exeter U16 grade 4 tournament. He also took the runners up spot in the consolation event at the U14 Nike Junior Tour national grade 2 at Sutton where he had a superb win against the UK U14 number 10 in the semi-final.
At county level, Pierce is the Devon number 1 at U14 and number 2 at U16. He has also just received a medal for winning the Devon winter tour leaderboard for the most successful U14 player between September and March.
A member of the school team, Pierce has been playing tennis since he was six years old and trains at Virgin Active Devonshire. He is coached by Dan Stuk and also trains with the Leverton Williams Tennis Academy.
