Computers, bicycles, medical supplies, tables and books are just some of the many items donated to fill a large container destined for The Gambia as part of Plymouth College’s Gambia Aid Project.
Relocation to a new building at Sutton Harbour saw local law firm, Foot Anstey, donate a number of old computers. Medical supplies came from St John Ambulance and both Plymouth College and Plymouth College Preparatory School cleared out a mountain of unused tables and chairs. As well, Plymouth College parents and staff donated books, stationery, bedding, clothing and even a bath to name but a few!
The container was paid for by various school fund-raising initiatives including the recent acoustic evening, raffle and art sale. Local removal firm, Brays Removals, provided the services of two employees (Stuart and Rob) to load the container. They were helped by David Compton, Plymouth College’s Gambia Project Co-ordinator, and a number of pupils.
The contents of the container will be distributed during the school’s next visit to the West African country in October.
