Food-tasting was the highlight of the ‘French Day’ held at Plymouth College Preparatory School recently.
The Years 5 and 6 pupils got to try the culinary delights of snails, frogs’ legs, artichoke, prunes and garlic bread.
With many dressed for the day in berets and other French items, the children were also treated to a presentation about France, a quiz and a guillotine demonstration! A ‘bakery’ was also open where the children could buy items with euros.
French teacher Ghislaine de Lavenère, said: “It was a great day and the children were really enthusiastic. The food-tasting caused the most excitement and I was really proud to see most of them have a go, even with the snails!
“The Year 6 trip to France is coming up soon so hopefully this has given them a bit of an insight into some of the things they might see, do and eat when they are there.”
