The Plymouth College swimming team has clinched six titles in the English Schools Swimming Association Team Championships 2010 held in Coventry.  The team also holds six of the 12 national records.

The intermediate girls - Franziska Reppe, Hannah Schulz, Laura Hudson, Achieng Ajulu-Bushell - won the 4x50m freestyle and medley relays, breaking the record in the medley first in the heats and again in the final in a time of 2:02.68.

The intermediate boys - Oliver Leonard, Jordan Sharples, Joe Patching, Callum Murphy, Alexander Gregory - won the 4x50m freestyle and medley relays each time about four seconds ahead of runners-up, Millfield.

The senior boys - Jonathan Hill, Sam Straughan, Dan Sweeney, Christian Homer, James Young - won the 4x50m freestyle and medley relays, breaking the national record in the final of the medley in a time of 1:47.37.

In the other events the junior boys took second place in the medley and fourth in the freestyle relays, while the senior girls secured second place in the medley and third in the freestyle relays.  Plymouth College did not have a junior girls team at this event.

"The team put in outstanding performances", said teacher in charge of swimming, Clive Hambly.  "To win the most titles for the third year running really does cement Plymouth College's position as the top swimming school in the country.  The school already held six national records going into the competition and some of the records broken this time round were ones we'd already set in previous years."
