Plymouth College elite swimmer, Christian Homer, has set a new 15-17 national record for Trinidad and Tobago in the 50-metre backstroke at the Internationales High Point Meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.
Swimming for Plymouth Leander, Christian clocked 26.82 seconds and claimed a silver medal in the race. He repeated the silver spot in the 50-metre butterfly, 100-metre butterfly and 4x100 medley relay but went one step further in the 4x100 freestyle relay where his team picked up a gold medal.
Christian, who is a boarder at Plymouth College and is part of the school's highly-acclaimed swimming programme partnership with Plymouth Leander, is no stranger to representing his country. Last summer he swam for Trinidad and Tobago in the World Championships in Rome and has now qualified for five events in the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympic Games being held in Singapore in August.
