Plymouth College Spanish scholars have had the chance to improve their language skills at a masterclass held at Plymouth University. Pupils from Year 9 through to Sixth Form joined other city students at the one-day event.
The ice-breaker session saw participants introduce themselves in Spanish before moving onto some good old grammar. Exercises in the preterit tense and the imperfect tense were particularly useful for the younger students who have recently learnt how to both form and use the past tenses in Spanish.
Other activities included a comprehension exercise based on a passage from 'El colegio de María', and a task that saw the students write the story of 'Caperucita Roja' ('Little Red Riding Hood') in Spanish. The day finished with a series of trebalenguas (tongue twisters). Everyone had to say their favourite one as quickly as possible whilst being recorded, which was very entertaining.
A great day and everyone went away feeling that they had either learnt something new or had reinforced their knowledge of the Spanish language.
